Lantern slide in black and white. Image shows a European man on his back with his head on the block. A Native American has an axe lifted above his head and is about to kill the European man. The scene is inside an Indian structure and Native Americans look on from all sides. A female Native American has put herself between the European man and the Native American with the axe. She has one hand under the man's head and the other is raised toward the man with the axe. A label printed in black is applied to one end of the slide and reads, "Smith Rescued by Pocahontas- 1607." A label printed in red applied to the other end of the slide reads, "A.D. Handy, Stereopticons & Supplies, Boston."
