Sepia-toned, hand colored Masonic carte-de-visite photograph. Full length portrait of unidentified man with beard standing and wearing a black coat, black pants with a windowpane pattern, and dark plaid shirt, white Masonic sash, and Masonic apron. Sash has a fringe on the end. Apron has a square and compasses symbol with the letter G enclosed in a shield-like motif. Apron also has a flap, and a fringe along the bottom edge. A shield with a square oan compasses on it is at the center of the apron. Man is holding up a book that is atop a table immediately to his right. The tablecloth on the table has a floral pattern, and is hand-colored in violet. Handwritten on the back in pencil is "MASON / Officer in / Blue Lodge / c. 1860-63"; the word "MASON" is underlined. Printed on the back in purple is "A. Hickcox / No. 77 Court Street / Binghamton / N.Y. / Duplicates can be / had at any time."
