Around 1900, officers of an Odd Fellows lodge gathered together in Arthur M. Wiggins’ studio for a photograph. Dressed in street clothes, the men also wear a variety of styles of collars, sashes and jewels that indicate the different offices they held. At the center of the image is the lodge’s Noble Grand. He wields a gavel, a symbol of his role and responsibility as presiding officer of the lodge.
