a: Masonic Senior Deacon (possibly) Apron; white silk apron with blue silk ruffled fringe; engraved printed all-seeing eye on flap; on apron engraved printed square and compasses with sunburst in middle suspended from ribbon (possibly) Senior Deacon's Jewel); springs of acacia at bottom; reverse stamped with manufacturer mark and address; "From A. W. Pollard's / Court Street / Boston". b: Masonic sash/collar; blue silk sash with silver bullion tape border and silver bulion fringe; blue silk rosettes with sequined stars at top and where two ends cross; linen backing with Pollard's maker stamp.

Although this printed silk apron bears an image of the jewel of a Senior Deacon, an officer in a Masonic lodge, it was likely a design used more broadly, by Master Masons and by other lodge officers. Abner Pollard, the regalia manufacturer who sold this apron, supplied aprons used at many lodges in Massachusetts, including lodges in Cambridge, Andover, Dorchester, and the Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Massachusetts in Boston.
