Knights Templar sash. OBVERSE: Black velvet body with gold metallic tape trim. Affixed to body, one at top-most and other at bottom-most point, are two black folded silk rosettes: top one has gold-colored metal delta affixed at center and bottom one has gold-colored metal square and compasses affixed at center. Between these rosettes on PR side, one gold-colored metal Templar cross is affixed; it has a convex shape and floral-like designs carved onto its top. Next to it is affixed a cast gold-colored metal nine-point star with radiating rays along its points and a central raised disk with a gold passion cross that has a silver serpent wrapped around it on top of a red velvet (likely silk) background and with a clear plastic cover over it; around the top of the gold metal edge surrounding this is the black enamel-infilled text, "IN HOC SIGNO VINCES" with a floral design at the bottom. Hanging from bottom-most point is a large gold-colored metal passion cross with a small Templar cross atop it; it is carved with decorative dots along its edges and affixed to sash via a hole at its top. A black silk grosgrain ribbon is tied in a bow and sewn to bottom point of sash, covering the joint where this cross is affixed. REVERSE: Plain black silk backing. Across seam along top center, manufacturer's label is affixed; it is rectangular and of black silk, with the text, "AMES SWORD CO. [arched] / MILITARY AND / SOCIETY GOODS / CHICOPEE, MASS." embroidered on it in white thread. Around its sides is a repeating criss-cross design in white thread. Below this, set perpendicularly to it so it runs along sash's seam, is a white strip of paper with the typed black text, "HERBERT DOW" on it; this is surrounded by a decorative silver-colored metal frame that is sewn on at four points with white thread. Lining has two circles of gold metal rings applied; one is made up of nine rings, and the other, of four. Above manufacturer's label, a small, black plastic-coated metal hook is sewn into seam for hooking to uniform.
