Masonic Shrine Fez, Sphinx Grand Master. a: Fez composed of maroon wool (likely) with a black tassel (likely synthetic). Applied to front is a Shrine emblem (scimitar, tiger claws, sphinx head, and star) surrounded by the text "SPHINX" (above) and "GRAND MASTER" (below); entire composition done in rhinestones with white plastic bezels; most of the stones are iridescent, but some are green or red; at center, gold-tone Sphinx head is decorated with yellow, red, green, and white enamel stripes; gold bullion trim around "SPHINX" and Shrine emblem. Tassel is secured to the PL side of fez with two pins decorated with rhinestones. At top of fez, four sets of vent holes in concentric rings. Inside fez, off-white rectangular synthetic fiber manufacturer's label attached with adhesive; printed in black on it is the text "D. TURIN & CO., INC. / HIALEAH, FLORIDA". On opposite side, small white sticker has black printed text on it, "DT&CO. [stylized] 7 1/8 / D. Turin & Co., Florida". Brown vinyl sweatband sewn inside opening of hat. Silver-colored metal pin at top center secures tassel. b: Case with zip top and handle. Case has cylindrical shape with flat back; it is covered in black leather (likely synthetic) and has a hard black plastic handle secured to the top with gold-colored metal hardware; there is a metal zipper all around round part of case about 2 inches below lid. On top, in front of handle, a Shrine emblem is stamped in gold ink. Black metal grommets on sides for ventilation. Inside of case has red synthetic-leather (likely) lining and cone-shaped support for fez in center; at hinge, a white synthetic fabric tag is sewn in along one end, and its other end is cut in a zig-zag pattern; on its face, embroidered in black, "Anthony Nizzardini / MASONIC SUPPLY CO. / 175 5TH AVENUE / NEW YORK CITY 10010". c: Red plastic insert frame in shape of fez has eight flat, flared "legs" down sides and, at top, four trapezoidal windows surrounding central round hole. Raised text running around inside of top of insert reads, "STEVE SKAPURA SHELDON INVENTOR U.S. PATENT NO 243129 1/25/77 LORE CITY OHIO JUDY ANN SHELDON SKIPCO. INC. CAMBRIDGE OHIO".
