Hand-colored black-and-white stereocard mounted on a gray card. Each of the two images in the stereograph depicts a fallen tree laying in a forest, with the roots pointing back. The leaves and needles of the other forest trees and plants have been hand-colored in green, and the fallen tree's trunk is lightly tinted in brown tones. Three men are standing atop the trunk of the fallen tree. Alongside the tree to the right, there is a buggy or carriage carrying several people, both women and men. Some of the people's clothing has been hand-colored in blue, pink, and yellow. A pair of spoked wheels is visible on side of the buggy or carriage away from the tree trunk. The buggy or carriage is being pulled by three horses. The two horses in front are dark in color, while the horse behind them is white. The path that they are traveling on alongside the tree has been hand-colored in beige. Printed on the front of the card is "Keystone View Company / Copyrighted / Manufacturers Publishers / Made in U.S.A. / Meadville, Pa., New York, N.Y., Portland, / Oregon, London, Eng., Sydney, Aus. / 5007 - The Fallen Monarch, Mariposa Grove, Yosemite / Valley, California." Printed on the back of the card is "5007 - The Fallen Monarch, Mariposa Grove, Yosemite Valley, California," followed by two paragraphs of text and the caption "Copyright 1906, by Keystone View Company."
