Engraving showing lodge of Freemasons receiving a Master Mason. In center is Lodge Master bending over and grabbing man lying on Masonic tracing board with face covered by a cloth. In background are six brother Masons. Masons also stand at corners and right end of tracing floor cloth. Below engraving in French reads title: "Assemblee de Francs-Macons, pour la Reception des Maitres." Below title is explaination of scene; at left and right is number key to locate various officers shown in engraving.


This is one of the earliest illustrations purporting to reveal the initiation of a Masonic candidate for the Master Mason Degree. The participants stand around a tracing board on the floor. This engraving is part of a set of seven.
