Needlework sampler stitched over two and four threads on 24-count unbleached fabric. Bottom edge is selvage; top and sides are turned under and stitched with dark brown backstitch. Sampler is composed of ten rows all stitched with dark brown thread. Each row has a horizontal divider below, these alternate between eyelet stitch, cross-stitch and a long-arm cross-stitch variation. The first three rows are an upper-case alphabet (no J). The next two rows are a lower-case alphabet (no j, two rs). The next row is numbers 1-0. The last four rows are the signature reading "& Iane Patt / en Born Iul / y 8 1780 Ag / d Ten Year."
