Masonic Royal Arch apron with square body and rounded flap with printed design on silk; motifs include all-seeing eye on flap, columns with globes, arch, "G" plumb, level, ribbons with square and compasses, keys; patterned silk ribbon border.
In the late 1700s and early 1800s some entrepreneurial printers designed, produced and sold aprons. In printing, rather than hand painting, a design, a printer could make multiple aprons from one engraved plate. This example, the product of an unknown engraver, may have been used in Connecticut.
