Kidskin Masonic Master Mason apron; long rectangular body with rounded flap; engraved on flap in brown, sun, moon, stars; in brown on body, allegorical figures of Faith, Hope and Charity, Bible, square and compasses, arch, ark, etc., across bottom: "Dedicated to the Ancient and Honorable Society of Free and Accd. Masons by their Faithful Br I [J] Cole PM Fore Street, London"; blue/ purple banding, silk, (now worn); linen backing; remains of old signature, now illegible, on back; old catg. no under flap "R / BE 12"; dark brown silk trim on body and flap, remnants of two silk tassels hanging from under flap.


When seeking a model for apron designs, American apron makers looked to many sources, including aprons made abroad. This apron, produced by a London craftsman, featured three female figures, Faith, Charity and Hope; allegories for virtues valued in Freemasonry along with different Masonic symbols.
