After a mason completes his service as Master, or head, of his lodge, he becomes a Past Master. Often his brethren present him with a silver jewel to recognize his service. Jonathan Cook was the second Master of King Hiram's Lodge in Provincetown, Massachusetts. He served as Master from 1800 to 1805.
