Masonic Past Master's Jewel of Dr. L. Spalding; formed of compasses and quadrant with inscribed measurements with rising sun; engraved on back "St. John's Lodge No 1/ Portsmouth, N.H./ To Dr. L. Spalding Pastmaster 5806."

A member of St. John’s Lodge No. 1 in Portsmouth, Lyman Spalding (1775-1821) received this jewel after his term as master of his lodge. Silversmith Timothy Gerrish, another member of St. John’s Lodge, made this jewel. Lodge records show he crafted at least five others for his lodge brethren.
