Tinted engraving titled "Allegorical Representation of the Treaty of Ghent 1814 and Triumph of America"; hand-colored areas of flags and general, overall blue-green tint; scene shows a variety of classical figures, horses, angel, flags, in front of Roman-type architecture; at bottom center is a central ring of abbreviations of states surrounding "Under the Presidency of Madison, Monroe Secretary of State."; at bottom "Allegorical Representation of the Treaty of Ghent, 1814 and Triumph of America / Minerva represents the wisdom of the United States; Mercury their commerce; Hercules, their force; Minerva dictates the conditions of peace which Mercury presents to Britannia and Hercules forces her to accept; on the shield of Minerva, are the names of those who signed the Treaty; on the Obelisk, those of the Heroes of the War; on the other side, America pauses in Triumph through the arch on her way to the temple of peace. She is attended by Victory and followed by a numerous train; several Trophies are seen and in the background are the ruins of the Capitol / This Print commemorative of the Triumph of American Arms in the War of 1812-14 is respectfully dedicated to the people of America by the Publishers, New York, published by Serrell & Co. 75 & 77 Nassau St."
