Mark Medal for Samuel Tuthill. OBVERSE: Silver mark medal cut in a shield shape from single sheet of silver, with hole at top through which separate, flat silver loop is attached. Engraved design on face of medal features (from top to bottom): square and compasses (with loop affixed at center of compass hinge) over open bible; below, a double circle design with the mnemonic "H T W S S T K S" (clockwise) in cursive script inside; at center of inner circle, a dove with an olive branch in its mouth and the text, "No. 42" below; around outer circle, the cursive text, "Elmira" (to top PR) and "Chapter" (to top PL). REVERSE: Engraved design features (from top to bottom): square and compasses over open bible; below, an archway with two columns on either side and a keystone at center with a "G" suspended from it; below this, three geometric cipher characters; below these, three steps. Above arches is the cursive text "Saml" (to PR) and "Tuthill" (to PL); below steps, the text, "5816.".
