Masonic Mark Medal for David C. Foster with 2-part case. a: OBVERSE: Mark medal cut from single sheet of silver has silver 3-D trowel affixed at center and silver-colored metal loop through hole at top. Cut in openwork shape of quadrant arc and compasses, medal features engraved designs including (from top to bottom): a star of David within circular border on hinge of compasses; a central keystone with a double circle on it, within which is the mnemonic (clockwise, in block letters), "H T W S S T K S"; in center of inner circle, 3-D trowel attached; outside keystone, a circle with a wavy line around it; a section of crosshatching at base of keystone where it joins with circle; and, on quadrant arc, engraved hatch marks and numbers (from PR to PL), "[illeg]", "10", "20", "30", "40", "50", "60", "70", "80", "90", "[illeg.]". a: REVERSE: Engraved design features (from top to bottom): criss-crossing wavy lines along arms of compasses; the cursive text, "Washington / Chapter / Established / Feb 5816" on keystone; the cursive text, "David C Foster" along quadrant arc; and decorative wavy lines along outer circle (everywhere except at bottom edge of keystone). b: Bottom piece of tear drop-shaped case has red leather on outside and thick white paper on inside. Leather features texture of diagonal striations. Stiff paper lining forms raised inner rim which extends 1/4" above outer portion of case. c: Top piece of tear drop-shaped case has red leather on outside and thick white paper on inside. Leather features texture of horizontal striations, and a seven-point star in gold paint at center.
