To thank London Freemason Robert Scholl (also spelled Sholl, ca. 1781-1832) for his service as Master of his lodge, Lodge of Union No. 275, Scholl’s brethren commissioned this gold and enamel badge. Although the glass-covered locket style of this jewel is unusual, the symbols on it—a square and compasses with a sun—show that it was a Past Master’s jewel.
