Loaned by the Grand Lodge of Masons in Massachusetts
Framed white leather Masonic apron. Plain wooden frame. Apron is printed in black with design of temple, columns, and other symbols and then painted in multiple colors. The rounded body shows a temple and checkered flooring in the center. Columns labeled "J" and "B" flank the temple. There are trees in the background and a pyramid at left. Above the temple is a bough of laurel tied with a cable tow. There is a five-point star with "G" in the middle. Along the top is a sun and moon followed by crossed swords, stars, and a level. The triangular flap also has an arrangement of Masonic symbols including a broken column, a globe, a level and a beehive. Framed with the apron is an envelope. Printed in black at upper left is a round symbol with text, "Munroe Felt & Paper Co. Lawrence, Mass." Handwritten in ink on the envelope is "Masonic apron worn by / George Washington, / when he was a guest of a / Cambridge Chapter."
