Polychrome watercolor drawing of a Masonic "Master's Carpet." The design consists of an all-seeing eye in a nimbus, on a rainbow arch connecting two columns topped with globes, between which is a mosaic pavement and three step dias. Immediately above the dias is an open Bible, square, and compasses (the three Great Lights of Masonry); space between the pillars is filled with various Masonic symbols; beneath the base a frieze is paneled with various Masonic symbols; below the base, the imprint line consists of "S.Bernard / 1832."

With over ninety different symbols used in Freemasonry’s first three degrees, over the years Masons have developed different visual representations of these symbols to help both recall symbols and to teach their meanings to new initiates. This Masonic chart features many symbols related to the first three degrees. This stylishly painted and colorful work bears a name, S. Bernard. Bernard may have painted the chart or it could have been created for him.
