Masonic Loge de l'Union Francaise No. 71 chalice. Silver with round scalloped base. Flared rim, with mid-section that flares out and is divided into sections. Engraved on one side "Presente par / la [rectangle] de l'Union Francaise N. 71 / au F. George Deloynes V.M. / en temoignage du respect & de l'Affection de ses F.F. / et en reconnaissance des Services eminent qu'il a rendu a la [rectangle] / Or de New York le 27 J w M.M. A.L. 5836."


This chalice was presented to George Deloynes in 1836 by his lodge brothers in respect and affection for his service toward his lodge. Loge de l’Union Française No. 71 started meeting in New York City in 1797. The lodge conducted its business in French, as can be seen by the French language inscription on this vessel.
