Savvy publishers of the time offered products to attract Masonic customers. New York businessman Jeremy Cross first created this certificate in the late 1840s. Siloam Commandery, No. 3 in Iowa issued a copy to Adolphe Minski almost twenty years later. A traveler, Minski lived in several different states. This document requested, on Minski’s behalf, “Friendship, Assistance and protection of all Valiant and Magnanimous Sir Knights, in all parts of the Globe wherever he may go.”
