a: Blue silk Masonic Past Master's collar with wide silver tape and silver 5-pointed star pin and suspended b: silver square, compasses and quadrant with sun in center; engraved on back is "Presented / To / Rt. Worshipful / Saml. H. Hutchinson. / Past Master / by Ancient York Lodge. Lowell Mass. Oct 18th 1854." and sticker "73"


Ancient York Lodge in Lowell, Massachusetts, presented this collar and jewel to Samuel Knox Hutchinson (1804-1877) in 1854. A mason and builder by trade, Hutchinson (above) served as the supervising agent for the construction of the Masonic Temple in Boston when it needed to be rebuilt after a catastrophic fire in 1864.
