Sixth-plate ambrotype showing African American man wearing Kossouth-style hat, Masonic sash and apron, and an Independent Order of Odd Fellows collar. The apron has a square and compasses symbol with "G" on the body, also stars. These symbols are tinted gold on the photograph.
