Sepia-tone carte-de-visite photograph mounted on off-white cardboard. There is an armchair or sofa at one side and the subject stands and rests one hand on the back. He has a beard. The subject wears a dark hat with a white plume and a five-point star emblem on the front. He wears a dark coat and pants with a white shirt. He also wears a dark collar and sash with lighter fringe. Both the collar and the sash are decorated with maple leaves. The back is printed in black with Oriental motifs. There is also text in the center, "Isaac S. Tapley / 66 Lisbon St. / Lewiston, / ME."
