Sepia-tone carte-de-visite photograph mounted on cardboard with a gold-tone thin line border. The subject is shown standing with a dark drape at one side. At the other side is a slat-back side chair. He rests one hand on top of a book on the back of the chair. The subject has a long beard and mustache. He wears a long dark coat and pants with a dark vest and white shirt. He also wears an Odd Fellows collar that has a fringed trimming and is decorated with floral motifs. The ends of the collar are joined by a three-link chain.
