Sepia-toned Masonic carte-de-visite photograph. Full length portrait of man wearing black coat and pants, black shoes, white shirt and bow tie, and Royal Arch Masonic sash and apron. Sash is black, with a white cross. Apron is white, with a black flap; both have back and white borders. Flap has a triangular device, while a white "X" in a darker square is on the body of the apron. Man also has three jewels hanging on or next to his left lapel - one is a square, and another is a Past Master's jewel. The third is circular in shape. To the right of the man is an ornately carved pedestal, with an open book on top; behind it there is a black curtain. Printed in black on the back is "By appointment to his Excellency / the Lord Lieutenant / Photographed / Alex Ayton, / Kennedy Place, / Londonderry, / Copies may be had at any time by / sending name and address."
