Sepia-toned Masonic Knights Templar carte-de-visite photograph. Full length portrait of a bearded man standing and wearing a dark frock coat and pants, dark shoes, white shirt, dark bow tie, and Knights Templar gauntlets, sash or baldric, and apron. His gauntlets are light-colored, with a wreath design on each cuff. His sash and apron are both black, with a lighter fringe and border. The sash has a nine-pointed star, a sword, and other undetermined Masonic symbols. The apron has crossed swords on the flap. The body of the apron has a triangle with a skull and crossbones inside, and three seven-pointed stars. The man has a sword hanging at his left. At his right is a table or a pedestal covered with an ornate cloth. On this pedestal or table is the man's chapeau-de-bras. The chapeau-de-bras is black, with a cross emblem on the side, and black and white feathers on top. There is a gilt, double-lined border around the edge of the photograph. Printed in blue ink on the back is "Morgan's / Gallery. / 56 State Street, / New London, / Ct. / Wm. F. Douglass, / Photographer. / Duplicated can be had at any time." There are several losses on the front side of this CDV, as well as residue from tape on the back.
