Sepia-toned fraternal carte-de-visite photograph. Three-quarter length portrait of an man wearing a black coat and pants, white shirt, bow tie, and Independent Order of Odd Fellows apron and collar. Collar is dark, with a lighter border and fringe; collar has a floral motif on each side. Apron is also dark, with a lighter border and fringe; it has a flap, with a fringe and two tassels. On the flap, there is an all-seeing eye. The main part of the apron has a floral wreath with bunches of grapes that encloses a five-pointed star; above the star is written "No 258". The man is resting his right arm on top of a white table. Printed in black on the back is a coat of arms with the words "Groom's Carte-de-Visite / and / Photograph Gallery, / Second St. Above Spruce / Philadelphia." Below the coat of arms is printed in black "M / Taken / No.", with a dotted line following each line of text. The numeral "192" is written in pencil on the dotted line immediately following "No." Printed in black below these three lines is "N.
