Sepia-toned Masonic Knights Templar carte-de-visite photograph. Almost full length (man's feet are missing from view) seated portrait of a man sitting on a chair and wearing a dark frock coat, black pants, and Knights Templar belt, sash or baldric, and gauntlets. His belt is black, with three horizontal white stripes, and a rectangular buckle with a cross on it. His sash is white, with a dark border; it has a star with an indeterminate number of points, and a cross inside. His gauntlets are white. He is holding a sword in his left hand, which is pointed downward. His chapeau-de-bras is resting on the arm of his chair. The chapeau-de-bras is black, with a black feather on top and a cross on the side. The chair has fringes extending from both the seat and the arm. Handwritten in pencil on the back is "K [illeg]." Printed in black on the back is "E.L. Brand's / Art Gallery / 108 / Lake Street Chicago. / Cartes De Visite only $1 50 per Dozen / Negatives Preserved." There is also a gilt, double-lined border around the back of the CDV.
