Black and white Masonic Knights Templar carte-de-visite photograph. Nearly full length portrait of a seated man with a mustache and a goatee. He is wearing a black buttoned frock coat with epaulettes, black pants, white shirt, and collar, sash or baldric, apron, sword belt, gauntlets, and chapeau-de-bras. His collar is black, with a white border, and 5(?) five-pointed stars. There is a cross jewel hanging from a nine-pointed star at the endpoint of the collar. His sash is also black, with a white border; it has a nine-pointed star and a rooster on it. His apron is triangular in shape, with two tassels hanging from the top edge. The apron is black, with a white border and fringe. There is a triangle on the flap, as well as two seven-pointed stars with a skull and crossbones on the body. His sword belt has a rectangular buckle with a Maltese cross. His gauntlets are white, with a Maltese cross on each cuff. His chapeau-de-bras is black, with white feathers on top. The man is holding his sword in his right hand, and a baton(?) in his left hand. There is a blue line around the edge of the CDV on the front side. Printed in blue, below the photograph, is the name "Brady"; there is a black line through the middle three letters. Handwritten in black ink below the photograph is "JB. Hill. E. C. / Washington + No. 1." Printed in black on the back is "Brady & Co's, / Late / Brady's / National Photographic / Portrait Galleries / No. 352 Pennsylvania Av. / Washington, D.C. / Broadway & Tenth St. New York."
