Black and white Masonic Knights Templar carte-de-visite photograph. Full length standing portrait of a bearded man wearing a black frock coat and pants, black shoes, white shirt, black bow tie, gauntlets, chapeau-de-bras, and Knights Templar Grand Commander's cape, sash or baldric, and apron. Gauntlets are light-colored; chapeau-de-bras is black, with a cross on the side and a black feather on top. His cape is black with white trim, and a white Maltese Cross in the middle. His sash is black, with a fringe at the bottom, and a floral border. On the sash are a cross, nine-pointed star, and a rooster. His apron is also black, with a floral border and a fringe around both the flap and the main section. On the body of the apron, there is a triangle with a skull and crossbones inside, and two visible seven-pointed stars. The man is carrying a sword by his left side, and holding another sword downward in his right hand. The CDV has a gilt, double-lined border running around the front edge. Printed in black on the back is "T.B. Sherriff. / No. 70 J St., / Sacramento."
