Sepia-toned Masonic Royal Arch carte-de-visite photograph. Three-quarter length portrait of unidentified man wearing a black coat and pants, white shirt, bow tie, and Masonic collar and apron. The collar has five six-pointed stars, a fringe, and a jewel with crossed swords hanging from its point. The apron has a wreath enclosing a shield, which has another wreath inside it; it also has fringes along the flap and the bottom edge. The man is resting his left forearm on the newel post of a handrail. The photograph has a gilt double lined border running around the edges. Printed in black on the back is "Percival, / Successor to Kertson, / 142 Chatham Street, / New York." Written in pencil on the back are two question marks, with "Capt [illeg.]" below.
