Sepia-toned Masonic carte-de-visite photograph. Three-quarter length portrait of a bearded man wearing a black buttoned frock coat and Knights Templar gauntlets, belt, sash or baldric, chapeau-de-bras, and epaulettes. Sash or baldric is white, with a black border and a cross device in the middle. Belt is black, with a rectangular buckle that has a cross. Gauntlets are white, each with a cross. Chapeau-de-bras is black, with a badge on the left side, and feathers on top. A sword is hanging from his belt at his left side. Epaulette is white, with a black symbol in the middle. Handwritten in pencil on the back is "$3." Printed is black ink on the back is "J.E. Smith, Photographer, / No. 98 Main Street, / Bordertown, / N.J."
