There is a circular badge on his hat. His left arm is resting on a book, which is lying on top of a rail. The woman is standing behind the rail. She is wearing a black dress with a beaded corset and a feathered bodice, along with a striped blouse. She is wearing a brooch on her blouse, at her throat. She wears a feathered cap, and holds a shawl (with a striped border) in her left hand. The couple is posed in front of a painted background depicting a lake scene. Printed in black on the back is a river scene, along with the text "The Castle & Suspension Bridge, Inverness / D. Whyte Inverness." The four corners of the CDV are all lightly creased.
