Sepia-toned Masonic Knights Templar carte-de-visite photograph. Full length portrait of a man wearing a black coat and pants, black shoes, white shirt, black bow tie, and Knights Templar apron, sash or baldric, and gauntlets. Sash or baldric is black, with white vertical stripes. Apron is triangular in shape; black with a white border, and a triangular skull and crossbones emblem. Gauntlets are white, with a cross motif. The man is carrying a sword at his left side, and is holding a chapeau-de-bras under his right arm. The chapeau-de-bras is black, with a white feathered edge. The man also has a beard and a mustache. He is posing in front of a painting of a lake scene, with a sailboat , and mountains and trees in the background. The painting also depicts a handrail in the foreground on the left side of the image. Printed in black on the back is "Photographed by / Higgins & Co., / 109 Washington Street, Boston."
