Sepia-toned Masonic carte-de-visite photograph. Three-quarter length portrait of a sideburned man wearing a black frock coat, white shirt, black bow tie, and Knights Templar gauntlets, sash or baldric, belt, and chapeau-de-bras. Gauntlets are white, with a dark cross on each. Sash is white with a black border, and a star or rosette badge. Belt is black, with a buckle in the shape of a shield. Chapeau-de-bras is black, with white feathers and a cross emblem on the side. Man is carrying a sword on a chain on in the left side of his belt.. Photograph has an arched upper edge. Below the photograph, the text "P.J. Ward, Horse Heads, N.Y." is printed in black. The back side is blank, except for a letter "A" handwritten in pencil in the top right corner.
