Jane D. Haight was born on April 28, 1808, in Westchester County, New York, the daughter of John Haight and Phebe Williamson. Her parents were Quakers and she also joined the Society of Friends. Her family moved to the Rochester, New York, area in 1824 when she was 16. On September 7, 1825, she married Harry Croswell Webster in Pittsford, New York. The couple moved to Indiana in 1835, eventually settling in the South Bend area. Harry was a farmer. The couple had thirteen children. Around 1850, Jane Webster became a convert to spiritualism, eventually becoming a "writing medium." Jane D. Haight Webster died on March 26, 1877.
