A: Wooden cash box with Masonic symbols on top and all sides. Metal hinges; hinged lid. The exterior surfaces are covered with Masonic symbols and illustrations. The rear edge of the lid is inscribed, "A.D. 1861. Year of the Order 2395." B: tray insert with four compartments.

The Masonic symbols and illustrations on this box were copied from Jeremy Cross's "The True Masonic Chart, or Hieroglyphic Monitor." Symbols on this box include illustrations pertaining to legends associated with Craft and Royal Arch Freemasonry. This exuberantly decorated box has an interior divided tray, likely intended for coins and bank notes. This locking box may have been used to store money and valuables at a Royal Arch chapter or Masonic lodge.
