Quilt with appliqued Masonic symbols including square and compasses, arch with keystone, stars, trowel, plumb and level. Archway is in red fabric, while other symbols are in blue fabric, all on a white ground. Each block also has a light green triangle. Nine blocks are 20 inches square. Sashing is 2 1/4 inches wide in a blue and white printed fabric. The outer border is 6 1/2 inches wide with appliqued Masonic tools in a blue and white printed fabric (level, trowel, square and compasses, straightedge and plumb). The inner border is one inch wide in the same blue and white printed fabric. Hand-pieced and hand-appliqued; tools in the border have some embroidery. Hand-quilted in feather motifs and parallel lines at nine stitches to the inch. Narrow blue binding bias-applied and replaced ca. 1920. Thin cotton batting. Backing is made of four pieces of white cotton.
