Sepia-toned Masonic Royal Arch carte-de-visite photograph. Full length portrait of unidentified man standing. Man is wearing a black coat and pants, dark shoes, and Masonic sash and apron. Man has a white beard. Apron is white with a darker border; has a flap; Royal Arch symbol on main section of apron. Sash is a solid color with no additional decorations outside of the clasp. Man is holding onto a chair with his left hand; the chair has a leather cushion. On the opposite side of the man is a table with an unopened book on top. There is a green three cent stamp on the back with a portrait of George Washington; the stamp reads "U.S. Inter. Revenue / Three / Cents / Proprietary." Printed in pencil on the back is "30.-." Printed in black on the back is "J.H. Johnson / Successor to / Charles Allen, / Brown's Block, / Claremont, N.H. / Copies of this at any time."
