Sepia-toned Masonic carte-de-visite photograph. Three-quarter length portrait of seated man with beard wearing black three piece suit, gray pants, patterned shirt, and hat. Man is holding a 24 inch gauge on his lap, and his right arm is resting atop a table that has a square and compasses emblem on it. Carte-de-visite has a gilt, double-lined border. Printed in black on the back is "T.C. Haynes / Photographer, / Railroad Street, / St. Johnsbury, / Vt. / Negatives preserved. / Pictures of all kinds copied or enlarged, an [sic.] / finished in Ink, Oil, or Water-Colors. / ALBUMS AND FRAMES / Cheaper than can be found elsewhere." Handwritten in pencil on the back is "Mason with / Square + Compass + / 24" gauge (in hand) / C 1860-1863." Handwritten in pencil on the back is the signature "Granpa Goodell."
