Sepia-toned, hand-colored Masonic Knights Templar carte-de-visite photograph. Full length portrait of a man standing and wearing a dark frock coat, black pants and shoes, white shirt, black bow tie, and Knights Templar gauntlets, belt, sash or baldric, and fatigue hat. Man also has a mustache and a goatee. His gauntlets are yellowish, with pinkish-red crosses on each. The belt is also pinkish-red, with an elliptical buckle that has a cross on it. The man's sword hangs from a sheath on his belt. His sash is white, with a yellow border and a pinkish-red cross. His fatigue hat is bluish-green, with a pinkish-red cross. There is a pink, double-lined border around the edge of the CDV on the front. Printed in black on the back is "R. A. Lewis, / 160 Chatham Street, / New York. / Negatives kept. / Duplicates made at any time."There is also a handwritten "O" or "0" in pencil in the top right corner on the back, with illegible, faded text handwritten in pencil directly below it. Additionally, there is a blue two cent tax stamp with a picture of George Washington on the back of the CDV. The text on the stamp reads "U.S. Inter. Rev. / Two / Cents / Proprietary." The stamp is hand canceled in black ink with the initials "R G."
