Sepia-toned Masonic carte-de-visite photograph. Three-quarter length portrait of bearded man wearing black coat and pants, white shirt, bow tie, and Masonic collar and apron. Apron is black, with a lighter border and fringe, and six five-pointed stars. Apron is also black, with a lighter border and fringe on both the flap and the main body; it features a triangular emblem, and an all-seeing eye on the flap. Man is resting his right hand on top of a fringed chair arm. Photograph is bordered by two blue lines. Printed on the back in black is "P.B. Jones, / Corner Main & 2nd Sts. / Davenport, Iowa. / This Negative Preserved." Handwritten in pencil in the back is " High Priest / R.A.M. / dated 1865 EAL7 / 89." Above the printed text on the back is a green three cent tax stamp with a picture of George Washington and the text "U.S. ./ Inter. Revenue / Three / Cents / Proprietary." The stamp is cancelled with the word "P.B.Jones / APB / 61 / 1865."
