"Merry Christmas to All" Nast's familiar Santa with long pipe winks with outstreched hand from center circle. Long bottom scene is theatre staged with actors in army and navy uniforms. Theatre boxes flank each side with spectators, as Ulysses S. Grant is portrayed as the "Giant Killer"; Columbia holds a laurel wreath under a rainbow titled UNION. Top circles: A girl plays with dolls while a boy in soldier uniform plays with a bugle. At sides, center squares show dancing at a party, with opposite scene of a man with crutches recalling war stories to family gathered around the fireplace. From Harper's Weekly, December 30, 1865.
