Sepia-toned fraternal carte-de-visite photograph. Full length portrait of unidentified man wearing black coat and pants, black shoes, white shirt, black bow tie, and fraternal collar and apron. Apron is white, with dark fringes along the flap and the bottom edge. Collar is white, with a black rectangular border. Man is holding onto a chair with an ornately embroidered back cushion with his left hand. Printed in black on the back is "Photographed / by / J.C. Lesher, / Carlisle, / PA. / Zug's Building, / S. E. Corner MArket Square. / No. / Negatives retained." Handwritten in pencil on the back, immediately following the word "No." is the number "4024." Handwritten in black ink on the back is "15." Also on the back is a canceled blue two-cent tax stamp with a picture of George Washington and the text "U.S. Inter. Rev. / Two/ Cents / Proprietary."
