Sepia-toned Masonic Knights Templar carte-de-visite photograph. Full length portrait of a man with mustache wearing a gray frock coat and pants, dark shoes, and Knights Templar chapeau-de-bras, sash or baldric, belt, and gauntlets. His frock coat has four buttons down the middle, and there is a white ribbon attached to it. His chapeau-de-bras is black, with a cross on the side, and black and white feathers on top. His sash is white, with a nine(?)-pointed star and a black border. His belt is black, with a round buckle. A sword hangs from the belt by the man's left hand side. His gauntlets are white, with a cross on each cuff. His right hand is resting atop the back of a padded, wood-framed chair with an ornately carved finial. He stands against a painted backdrop with columns. Handwritten in pencil on the back is a capital letter "I." Printed in gold on the back is ""I have engaged the sun to shine for me. / Battels, / Akron, Ohio. / No. 106 Market Street." There are two holes in the CDV - one at the top edge of the photograph, about midway between the two sides, and another in a corresponding location along the bottom edge of the photograph.
