Black-and-white stereophotograph or stereocard mounted on a seafoam green card showing a group of trees covered in ice and snow. In the foreground of the image, a barren tree is practically doubled over under the weight of the ice and snow that has encrusted its branches. The other trees in the background do not appear to be as noticeably bent over. The ground below the trees is covered by snow. Printed in black on the front of the card is "Stereoscopic Gems / American Scenery." A rectangular label made of white paper is affixed to the back of the card, roughly in the center. Printed in black on this label is "No. 73 / Niagara in Winter. Frozen Spray Encrusting trees on Luna Island. / Published by E. & H. T. Anthony & Co., / American and Foreign Stereoscopic Emporium, 501 Broadway, New-York." Near the top left corner of the back of the card, above the label, the text "APL3" is handwritten in pencil.
