Directly in front of the geological formation, there is a white horse harnessed to a carriage. There is some shrubbery in front of the horse and the carriage. Otherwise, the land in front of the rock formation is mostly arid, with some loose patches of grass or bushes. Printed in black on the front of the card is "Union Pacific Railroad Views. / Savage & Ottinger, Salt Lake City. / Church Buttes, Wyoming. [184]." Printed in black on the back is "Savage & Ottinger's / Pioneer Fine Art Gallery, / Salt Lake City, Utah. / Views in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana, all sizes. / Scenes on the U.P.R.R., Salt Lake City, Lake." Handwritten in pencil, upside-down, along the bottom edge of the back is "J(?)LS."
