Mantle Clock with Masonic Symbols. a: Spring-driven mantle clock has overall rectangular shape, with molding at top and base, and turned columns applied to face along either side. Its face and sides are of a caramel-colored, varnished wood; along bottom edge of face, a gold-colored metal plaque is applied which bears the carved text, "In Memory Of / Chet Burkeybyle / 1984". Case has a wood-framed hinged glass door divided into two square panes, and a small round brass knob on PR side; lower pane of glass has square and compasses with a G at center and decorative leafy pattern surrounding it painted in gold and black (on inside side). Face of clock is composed of a square sheet of metal with a circular hole in the center for clock hands, and two smaller circular holes below for winding; it is painted off-white overall and has floral designs in green and pink painted in each corner; its numbers are Roman numerals painted in black; this panel is held up by two triangular wood supports. Spiral-shaped spring drive below is of silver-colored metal; to its PR are brass gears. On inside of lower half of back wall of clock case, a large paper label is applied and bears the following text printed in black, with a decorative border: "[B]RASS CLOCKS, / MADE AND SOLD BY / SETH THOMAS, / Plymouth Hollow, Conn. / [decorative line] / WARRANTED GOOD. / DIRECTIONS FOR SETTING THE [illeg.]OCK RUNNING AND KEEPING IT IN ORDER... [two columns of text below, with many spots with loss, or too dark/faded to read] / FRANCIS & LOUTREL [illeg.] 45 Maiden Ln., N. Y."; in between columns of text, a circular image of three trees (possibly) on an island, with flags and banners surrounding. Top, bottom, and back faces of clock case are of a darker-colored, unvarnished wood. Top of case has two pill-shaped holes near front edge, showing strings and pulleys for clock weights; there is a third, circular hole at the center. Bottom of clock has two circular holes in it. b: Pendulum bob has disk shape; shiny, copper-colored metal on the front, dull gray metal on back; has dark gray bent metal pin running through it, with bolt at bottom, for hanging on pendulum stick. c: Weight, left. Iron, cone shape with rounded top with a loop for hanging. d: Weight, right. Same as left weight only larger. e: Bell. Iron, circular and dome-shaped with hole at center and small protrusion along edge. f: Clock winder, "CM726", copper-colored metal; handle in a straight L-shape. g: Clock winder, brass head with silver-colored metal handle that is slightly bent. h: Pendulum stick, gray metal. i: Unidentified part, gray metal.
