a: Silver-tone cornet. Maker's mark on the bell reads "F. Besson / Brevetel / 298 Euston Road / London." Beneath this is "Louis Schrieber / Sole Agent U. States." b: Black leather-covered case with clear glass front. Closes with three metal clasps along the front edge. Lined with blue velvet. On the inside front edge are two velvet-covered "hooks" that hold a wooden stick. A silver-tone plaque is applied at top center of the case. It is engraved "Tom Carter's Cornet / Presented to / Giles F. Yates Council P of J / by / Carter Associates / Oscar E. Wasgalt Leader / 1934." c: Silver-tone metal key for the case. d: Turned baton, piece missing.
